CALONNE EDUCATIONAL GROUP

The project aims to bring several heritage buildings up to standard and to enhance them. There are many issues at stake in this program: physically reuniting two schools that are part of the same complex around a single outdoor space for play, exchange and learning, proposing a new facility that is a signal for the city and finally enhancing the existing building.

We wanted to go beyond the program of the new building (a volume mixing service rooms and a multipurpose room) to make it a gathering place and a landmark: the marquee, a building with a welcoming architecture that is an invitation to enter from the public space.

The exterior spaces echo the existing architecture and the more contemporary architecture of the new volume, whose colors reveal and highlight the brick that is very present on the site.
