In addition to its legendary light, its taste for modernist architecture and its downtown harbor, Le Havre is a real stronghold of boating. As early as 1993, it organized the very first Coffee Route, which became the Transat Jacques Vabre. Our project clings to this nautical culture: we are creating a place open to the city and the sea that will attract the finest sailing and gliding professionals and, in its wake, amateurs, families and students in search of emotions, spectacle and activity in the open air and in the breeze.
Our project will provide them with immediate and easy access, almost turnkey, to the water in all its diversity. If the sea is a direct resource for the inhabitants of Le Havre, they only take advantage of it during the summer season, keeping themselves away from the sea from autumn to mid-spring.
Starting from the observation of a real culture of public space coupled with a strong relationship to the sea frustrated by unfavorable accessibility conditions, our project invents around the Vatine and Eure basins a nautical complex which offers to all the leisure and the spectacle of the water, all year long, in an easy and playful way.
