At the top of Franck Gehry’s existing building, we have created a space where you can slip into the shoes of a filmmaker or actor for the duration of a screening.
At the top of Franck Gehry’s existing building, we have created a space where you can slip into the shoes of a filmmaker or actor for the duration of a screening. Surrounded by references to the history of cinema, the visitor passes beyond the camera. In order to guarantee this experience, the circulations have been designed to facilitate movement and the premises have been given ample space to accommodate technical equipment. The signage and graphics accompany the visitors step by step. Like a magic lantern, the curtain of lights cascading down the façade creates a dreamlike atmosphere inside and signals the existence of the studios from the inside.
With this new equipment, the Cinémathèque française offers its visitors of all ages an innovative mediation device that aims to renew their apprehension of the 7th art by means of an educational approach based on practice and experience so that the discovery of the workings of the 7th art is a moment of learning as much as of enchantment and happiness, in the image of cinema.
